The Course:

Education In Building offer this formal qualification ONLINE - self paced learning and direct observation of tasks.

The materials will direct you to undertake your own research into key concepts, information, requirements, methods and skills, and will provide starting points for this research where useful and practical. 
The materials contain research activities to allow you to consider and apply key concepts, information and requirements and to practice important methods and skills. Where appropriate, these activities direct you to investigate or make use of information and resources that are available at your workplace or general environment. 
Learn how to:
  • Undertake a sustainability assessment of a residential property in the areas or energy use, waste generation, water use and thermal performance
  • Engage effectively with residents to promote home sustainability practices and recommend solutions and alternatives
  • Facilitate effective client relationships exploring products and services with the client that could improve or enhance their operations
  • Minimise health and safety risks while undertaking a home assessment
  • Manage own work, professional development and ethical behaviour as a home sustainability assessor.
The materials contain content of relevance to assessors in all States and Territories and summarises the key differences between the different jurisdictions, but not describe or list every difference in detail. You are expected to research the requirements within the jurisdictions within which you typically work.

We offer basic training with the theory component being completed ONLINE - self paced learning and the direct observation of tasks in a real or simulated work condition, with questioning to confirm your ability to consistently identify and correctly interpret the essential underpinning knowledge required for practical application.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency in 12 units of competency:

  • CPPCMN3001B - Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices
  • CPPCMN3004B - Respond to enquiries and complaints
  • CPPHSA4007A - Promote the adoption of home sustainability practices by residents
  • CPPCMN4004B - Facilitate effective client relationships
  • CPPHSA4006A - Manage own work, professional development and ethical behaviour 
  • CPPHSA4005A - Minimise health, safety and Security Risks When Assessing Home Sustainability 
  • CPPHSA4004A - Assess thermal performance of existing residences using non-rating tools and techniques
  • CPPHSA4002A - Assess household waste generation and management
  • CPPHSA4003A - Assess household water use
  • CPPHSA4001A - Assess household energy use
  • CPCCBC4014A - Prepare simple building sketches and drawings
  • CPPCMN4008A - Read plans, drawings and specifications for residential buildings


Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

The objective of the RPL assessment process is to ensure that an individuals prior learning achieved through formal and informal training, work experience or other life experience is appropriately recognised which enables you to forego training and move directly to having your skills assessed, thus avoiding the need for unnecessary training that brings with it additional costs, including time and effort

The Award:

Once successfully completed you will be awarded an AQF Nationally Recognised Certificate IV or a Statement of Attainment bearing the unit codes you were assessed against. Awards are issued by Education In Building as the Registered Training Organisation No32418.
