CPP50911 Diploma of Building Design

Who is this course for?

This qualification applies to building designers who undertake building design projects covered by the Building Code of Australia (BCA), except Construction Type A buildings.

Building designers may specialise in residential projects, including new buildings, heritage restorations and additions or renovations; or they may also undertake commercial and industrial projects, such as factories, motels, offices, restaurants, retail or service outlets and warehouses.

Building Designers who carry out a broad range of roles in the design process, including pre-design services, site analysis, schematic design, design development, contract documentation, and are involved in contract administration.

Prerequisites

Students typically should have more than four years of hands-on experience as a building designer.

The minimally qualified candidate typically:

  • Has a working knowledge of, and preferably hands-on experience, using AutoCAD software or equivalent
  • Has experience with reading and extracting information from plans, drawings and specifications for residential buildings
  • Be able to use a personal computer, including basic word processing, spreadsheet, and email programs and internet search engines.
  • Have a demonstrated capacity in literacy and numeracy.

Career Pathways

One of the requirements for an appropriately licensed person within the building industry is holding the relevant technical qualification. This qualification is Nationally Recognised and can be used in all States and Territories of Australia.

The most common use of obtaining the qualification in CPP50911 Diploma of Building Design through Education In Building is for obtaining a licence  in Queensland.

If you have moved from overseas you may already have a qualification, but it’s not the exact qualification you need for the licence class you want, you can apply for an equivalency assessment.

  • Our fee for this course is GST free
  • The Recognition of Prior Learning price, above, is based on RPL of the full qualification. The reason for the price differentiation is due to the fact that RPL is an assessment only pathway. In other words, the training component is not provided where a learner is applying for RPL.
  • The total price per student may vary from the prices specified above, in instances where a portion of the qualification (measured in Units of Competency) is completed via a combination of Learning Pathway and RPL.
  • Our RTO does not accept upfront payments of more than $1,500.
