This qualification is designed to meet the needs of builders and managers of small-medium building businesses.

A builder is the person who coordinates the construction of a building taking responsibility for the overall completion of the job, including selected contractors, overseeing the work and its quality, and liaising with the client.

This qualification covers building theory and practice related to low rise buildings and associated light steel structures .

Who is this course for?

One of the requirements for an appropriately licensed person within the building industry is holding the relevant technical qualification. This qualification is Nationally Recognised and can be used in all States and Territories of Australia.

The most common use of obtaining the qualification in CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction through Education In Building is for obtaining a licence in Queensland.

Entry Requirements

There are no prerequisites for this qualification however candidates typically should have more than four years of hands-on experience as a building supervisor.

The minimally qualified candidate typically:

  • Has experience with reading and extracting information from plans, drawings and specifications for residential buildings
  • Be able to use a personal computer, including basic word processing, spreadsheet, and email programs and internet search engines.
  • Have a demonstrated capacity in literacy and numeracy
  • Has experience as a tradesperson who want to attain formal licensing or registration as a Builder

Equivalency Assessment

If you have moved from overseas you may already have a qualification, but it’s not the exact qualification you need for the licence class you want, you can apply for an equivalency assessment.

We will assess your skills, knowledge and experience, and compare your qualification with the one you need for your licence class.

RPL

We offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathway to obtain this Nationally Recognised Qualification which allows you to show skills you have developed, specialist skills and knowledge in areas such as planning, drafting, quantities take off, estimating, scheduling, construction technology, OHS, site supervision, surveying, cost control and business management.

  • The Recognition of Prior Learning price, above, is based on RPL of the full qualification. The reason for the low price differentiation is due to the fact that RPL is an assessment only pathway. In other words, the training component is not provided where a learner is applying for RPL.
  • The total price per student may vary from the prices specified above, in instances where a portion of the qualification (measured in Units of Competency) is completed via a combination of Learning Pathway and RPL.
  • Our RTO does not accept upfront payments of more than $1,500.
