Home sustainability assessors provide advice to homeowners seeking to improve the efficiency, cost to run, sustainability and comfort needs of their household. They conduct on-site assessments of residences and advise on opportunities to improve comfort and to save on energy and water costs, and ways to live more sustainably in a residential environment.

This qualification provides a diverse range of skills and knowledge needed by professional assessors in conducting home sustainability assessments.

Participants completing this qualification with EIB will be awarded the qualification of CPP41119 Certificate IV in Home Energy Efficiency and Sustainability (Home Sustainability Assessment) allowing you to be a fully qualified to undertake assessment anywhere in Australia.

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to source and analyse information on the thermal performance of existing residences. It includes providing advice on ways to improve thermal performance accounting for ownership and type of building, costs and practicalities of implementing improvement recommendations.
Aimed at individuals who work independently using specialised knowledge to complete routine and non-routine tasks and deal with predictable and sometimes unpredictable problems in sustainability practices within the home.

What are the entry requirements?

To undertake the CPP41119 Certificate IV in Home Energy Efficiency and Sustainability you are expected to:

Effectively read and extract information from plans, drawings and specifications for residential buildings,
Manage own work, professional development and ethical behaviour in a satisfactory manner,
Be able to use a personal computer, including basic word processing, spreadsheet, email programs and internet search engines,
Have a demonstrated capacity in literacy and numeracy, and
Have demonstrated interpersonal communication skills.

The materials contain content of relevance to assessors in all States and Territories and summarises the key differences between the different jurisdictions, but not describe or list every difference in detail. You are expected to research the requirements within the jurisdictions within which you typically work.

The materials will direct you to undertake your own research into key concepts, information, requirements, methods and skills, and will provide starting points for this research where useful and practical.

They contain activities to allow you to consider and apply key concepts, information and requirements and to practice important methods and skills. Where appropriate, these activities direct you to investigate or make use of information and resources that are available at your workplace or general environment.

Education In Building includes software training in this course. No additional fees apply. Undertaking the software training with Education In Building you will receive a Nationally Recognised Qualification.

What is RPL?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of prior learning is a process that involves an assessment of your relevant prior learning (including formal, informal and non-formal learning through work experience, life experience, training courses and work based training). From the information you provide we can determine if you will receive recognition for the units in which you have demonstrated either competency or similarity of learning outcomes, and you will only need to complete an assessment for those units.

Credit Transfer

Credit transfer is a process that gives you credit for components of a qualification based on identical study that you’ve previously successfully completed. If you’ve previously completed formal studies, for example at another VET provider, or higher education provider, you may be eligible to receive credit towards a qualification. If we assess that units in your course are identical to any you have previously completed, you will receive a credit transfer for those units. That means you won’t have to study or pay for those units again and they will count towards your qualification.
