This hands‑on software modelling course takes you through the full residential dwelling assessment process from start to finish using NatHERS‑accredited HERO software.

Learn directly from NatHERS‑endorsed trainers as you apply software functions and proven modelling methods for complex building types, construction systems, and materials. You’ll also run simulations to assess thermal performance and confirm compliance with current regulatory requirements.

On successful completion, you’ll gain the following nationally recognised units:

  • CPPHES4004 – Conduct thermal performance assessments of residential buildings
  • CPPHES5001 – Conduct thermal performance assessments of complex residential buildings

Completion of these units also enables existing assessors to use HERO as an accredited NatHERS tool—a unique outcome not offered by other HERO software providers.

Prerequisites

To get the most from this training, you should have:

  • A working familiarity with NatHERS Technical Notes
  • Experience reading and interpreting residential building plans, drawings, and specifications
  • Confidence using a computer for everyday tasks, including email, documents, spreadsheets, and internet research
  • A practical level of literacy and numeracy to support learning and assessment activities
