It’s the question we hear most, and the honest answer is: It’s up to you
CPP41126 at EIB is 100% online and entirely self-paced. There are no fixed class times and no intake dates to work around. You study when it suits you, around work, family and everything else, and how long you take depends on how much time you dedicate. A number of our students complete the course in under six months, while others take longer. Both are completely fine.
Our trainers and assessors also play a big part in keeping you moving. Students regularly tell us how quickly our team marks assessments and comes back with clear, helpful feedback, which means less time waiting and more time making progress.
If you’d like to move at a faster pace, our expert assessors have seen what works. Here are their top tips.
Our Assessors’ Top 5 Tips
1. Build a strong foundation
Get comfortable with residential building construction, thermal performance principles, NCC energy efficiency requirements and NatHERS assessment methodology. The better you understand the “why”, the more confident your modelling decisions and the smoother every assessment will feel.
2. Stay consistent
Set aside dedicated time each week to work through the course materials and assessment activities. Even a modest, regular routine builds momentum and helps key concepts stick.
3. Get familiar with building plans
Practise reading floor plans, elevations, sections, site plans, schedules and construction specifications. Accurately interpreting building documentation is a critical skill for NatHERS assessors, and it will support you throughout the course and in your future career.
4. Practise your NatHERS modelling
The more dwellings you enter into NatHERS-accredited software, and the more you identify construction elements and assess their impact on thermal performance, the faster and more confident you’ll become. Hands-on practice is one of the most effective ways to strengthen your skills.
5. Use your resources, and our responsive team
Make the most of the training materials, technical references, NatHERS resources and assessor handbooks. Submit your work as you complete it: our trainers are known for marking promptly and coming back with practical feedback, so you can apply it straight away and keep your momentum. If a concept or requirement is unclear, reach out early so small questions don’t become roadblocks.
Conclusion
Whether you finish in a few months or take a little longer, steady habits are what get you there. Study at a pace that works for your life, build your skills as you go, and lean on a team that’s quick to mark your work and quick to help.
